A Graphic Look at How the Niners Win

Updated from my week 9 look at this.. how has the Niners defense and special teams rank against the rest of the league? We keep hearing that it’s been a major part of their success.
Visualizing How the Texans Keeping Winning

It’s been a month since Matt Schwab has last started and as he was placed on IR, Texans fans gasped, and probably wondered what was going to happen with their QB situation for the rest of the season. Matt Leinart started, briefly, and also got hurt. TJ Yates has stepped in and won 3 out of 3, not turning the ball over, while only completing 54.8% of his passes. Surely, it’s not his play that has been winning every game right?
When I was researching my All I Do Is Win - Ode to Time Tebow graphic, I noticed some similarities. It’s the Texans dominance in a few categories.
-#1 in AFC, Time of Possession
-#1 in AFC, Rushing First Downs and Rushing Attempts Per Game
-#1 in AFC, Team Takeaways
-#1 in AFC, Opponents Passer Rating and Completion %.
Once again, consider me impressed. Keep up the good work.
All I Do Is Win - An Ode to Tebow and Winning

How do Tim Tebow do it? How do the Broncos keep winning? We know it’s not due to his passing abilities, but it’s here where we start mentioning the intangibles that are always spoken about every year around NFL draft time. It’s known that Tebow does most of his damage in the 4th quarter, but what else has contributed to the Broncos going 4-0 in the month of November?
-Increased passing accuracy in the 4th quarter, going from 36.4% in the 3rd to 56.4%
-TD’s thrown in 4th quarter: 5. TD’s thrown in 1-3rd: 3 total.
-Tebow leads the league in rushing YPA at 5.8
-In the past 3 games, rushing 74.07% of the time
-First down rushing %: 66.67%
-In the past 3 games, not allowing any rushing TDs
-In the past 3 games, suppressing opponents to only 26.19% on 3rd down conversions
I’m pretty impressed!
Philly D-Cline, How The Eagles D Has Change Since Jim Johnson

From the cellar of the NFC East this year at 4-7, how has this defense changed since the departure of Jim Johnson in 2008? Declining in some areas.
-Points Allowed
-Passing TD’s Allowed
-Rushing TD’s Allowed
-Defense on 3rd Down Conversions
-Defense against Red Zone Scoring (TD’s Only)
Outside of the one stat they still excelled at in 2009, defense on 3rd down conversions, the McDermott and Castillo defenses so far have been 6th or worst in the NFC.
Stats currently through week 12.
How the Niners Win
So how have my beloved Niners been winning? Is it the Harbaugh effect? Maybe the San Francisco drinking water? Specifically, I noticed it’s by defense, namely rushing defense and takeaways, and also, special teams. Leading in own and opponent field position says a lot for this special teams unit.
As seen on Niners Nation
Good work.
Shanahan Knows

Haven’t you wondered how many 1,000 rushers Shanahan has produced? 11 seasons with 6 different rushers I’ve counted, and makes me wonder if Shanahan, or in some of these cases, Kubiak can just plug in and they can do work just the same.
